How the PROTIQ Marketplace works

The possibilities and functions on the PROTIQ Marketplace are constantly evolving and keeping track of them is not always easy. In order to offer you as pleasant a user experience as possible, we have listed the most important functions of the website here and explained them in detail. If you have any questions, uncertainties or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the PROTIQ team.

Create user account

To create a free account, click on "New Account", select the desired account type (business or private customer) and enter your details and a secure password. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with an activation link.

Detailed description

Create your free PROTIQ user account easily within a few clicks. To do so, go to www.protiq.com and click on "New account".

Then choose between an account for business customers or private consumers.

As a business customer, you will see net prices on the PROTIQ Marketplace, excluding VAT. As a private customer, you will see gross prices, including VAT.

Now enter an invoice address and, if applicable, your company and VAT number in the text fields. Please make sure that the spelling is complete and correct, e.g. "FirmaXY GmbH & Co. KG". Enter your e-mail address and choose a secure password. The password must contain at least 8 characters and consist of lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers and special characters.

It is not mandatory to enter a telephone number, but it is very helpful should any problems or questions arise with your orders.

After you have sent the information by clicking on "Save", you will receive an e-mail to confirm your e-mail address. Click on the link contained here to complete the creation of your PROTIQ user account. If you have not received a confirmation link by e-mail, please also check the spam folder of your e-mail account and contact us at service@protiq.com. We will be happy to support you.

Upload parts and configure order

On the PROTIQ Marketplace, users can upload their 3D files directly on the homepage. The material, manufacturing process, service provider and optional finishings can then be selected and the components simply added to the shopping basket.

Detailed description

On the PROTIQ Marketplace you have the possibility to generate an automatically created offer for your components with just a few clicks and to place the order directly online. To do this, select your components as a 3D file via the "Upload" button, or drag and drop the files onto the upload field on the start page. The data is encrypted and temporarily stored on our own servers and analysed by the PROTIQ algorithm. The components are checked for manufacturability and minor defects in the 3D files are automatically repaired.

In the configurator that then opens, you have the option of selecting the desired number of pieces as well as the manufacturing process and the material. Thanks to the automated PROTIQ algorithm, you are directly shown official price information for the uploaded components, depending on the number of pieces and individually calculated for the individual materials.

In addition, you can choose between different manufacturing service providers for many processes and materials. The marketplace providers calculate the displayed prices individually and independently, so that you as a customer enjoy full transparency, overview and comparability here.

Once the order has been placed, the production order is processed completely by the selected production service provider. The components will be produced on his production facilities and the invoice will be issued by the corresponding provider. By marking the components with the checkbox on the left, entire groups of components can be processed in the same way, so that the configuration does not have to be run through individually for each component. As soon as you have decided on a production process, a material and a production supplier for each uploaded component, the configured components are loaded into the shopping basket.

Data check and automatic data repair

On the PROTIQ Marketplace, the feasibility of the component is automatically checked during the upload of the 3D data and minor defects in the 3D data are repaired independently to ensure problem-free production. For larger defects, consultation with the PROTIQ team may be necessary.

Detailed description

During the automated analysis and price calculation, it is analysed whether the component can be produced in the respective materials and processes. If, for example, the component is too large for the corresponding plant installation spaces, you will receive feedback on this. In addition, the uploaded data runs through an automatic repair algorithm. The repair independently closes smaller defects such as holes or overlapping surfaces in the 3D data, so that the components can be produced in 3D printing without any problems.

However, in the case of larger defects in the 3D data, we may still need to consult with you to solve the problem. You can download the repaired 3D file free of charge. To do this, go to the "File Info" tab on the right in the 3D preview window and click the download button there.

Calculate prices

On the PROTIQ Marketplace, prices are calculated individually based on the uploaded component data, with gross prices for private customers and net prices for business customers displayed as standard. The automated calculation provides immediate price information and makes it easy to compare different materials and service providers.

Detailed description

The prices on the PROTIQ Marketplace are determined individually on the basis of your personal, uploaded component data and represent binding sales prices.

In general, the prices on the PROTIQ Marketplace are displayed as gross prices, including VAT. To display net prices, either select "Business customer" in the grey bar at the top or log in with a business customer user account.

The algorithm is designed for calculating small and medium quantities. In case you want to have a series with a larger number of pieces produced, there is the possibility to reduce the prices as a set offer. By optimally utilising the plant capacity and the production space, production costs can be reduced for the corresponding quantities and the components can be offered at a significantly lower price. In this case, please do not hesitate to ask for an individual offer.

The automated online calculation enables us to avoid items that are otherwise usually calculated in for the manual processing effort of price determination and quotation preparation.  We would therefore expressly recommend that you choose the online platform. As a customer, you additionally benefit from immediate price information and, if required, a downloadable, official offer.

Download PDF quotes

We offer you the option of downloading PDF quotations yourself by loading your components into the shopping basket and clicking on "Generate quotation". This PDF quotation, issued to the billing information stored in the user account, is valid for 14 days.

Detailed description

Of course, in addition to the live price information displayed in the configuration process, we also offer you the option of downloading an official PDF quote.

Simply load your configured components into the shopping cart and log in with your free PROTIQ user account.

Click on the "Generate offer" button below the displayed components to download an automatically generated offer, issued to the billing information stored in the user account. The offer is valid for 14 days and can be forwarded directly to the corresponding purchasing agent if required.

Place order online

Orders on the PROTIQ Marketplace can be easily placed online via the checkout process in the shopping basket. Users also have the option of entering internal order numbers and choosing between different shipping options or payment methods.

Detailed description

In order to be able to correctly assign all the necessary information on your components, the 3D data and your billing and delivery address to your order, it is necessary that your order is placed online in the shopping basket using the "Checkout" and "Checkout" path. Immediately after placing your order, a PROTIQ order number and a summary will be sent to you by e-mail. The order is reviewed by our staff and you will receive an order confirmation and delivery date within a short time.

Due to the fully digitalised processing procedure, we are unfortunately unable to process pure text orders, classically by e-mail as PDF. If your internal processes require such an order, e.g. via SAP, please also trigger the order with the corresponding components in the PROTIQ shopping cart in addition to the text order.

Simply enter your internal order number, e.g. from SAP, in the free text field "Personal order number". You will find the field in the shopping cart, on the right, below the displayed order value.

The content of the text field "Personal order number" is indicated on all important documents of the order (order confirmation, delivery note, invoice). In this way, the PROTIQ order can be assigned to your internal SAP order without any problems, e.g. in accounting.

Save shopping baskets as a project and forward to a purchaser

On the PROTIQ Marketplace, fully configured shopping baskets can be saved as projects and forwarded to other users. These people can then access the shared project via an invitation and trigger the order, whereby they can find the project in their user account under "Projects shared with me".

Detailed description

In large companies, it is common that not all employees are authorised to place orders. In this case, the required components are ordered by another person, e.g. from procurement management. PROTIQ Marketplace offers a simple solution for this case:

Ready-configured shopping baskets can be saved as a whole and then forwarded to Purchasing. To do this, simply use the "Save project" function at the bottom left of the shopping basket.

The saved projects can then be released by inviting one or more buyers. To do this, click on the "Share project" field, enter the email address of the relevant persons and then click on "Send invitation".

The specified person will then be informed by email and will find the shared project in their PROTIQ user account, under the heading "Saved/Shared projects" → "Projects shared with me". From there, the components can be loaded directly into the shopping cart individually or together and the order can be triggered.

PROTIQ Purchase as a procurement service

PROTIQ Marketplace enables transparency and quality assurance through individual processing by different providers. PROTIQ Purchase simplifies the ordering process for larger companies by acting as a central purchasing service provider and issuing invoices, despite individual production by various marketplace providers.

Detailed description

With the claim of complete transparency, PROTIQ addresses the demands and needs of industrial and business customers. The different providers on the PROTIQ Marketplace all offer their services under their own name and with their own invoice. The chosen service provider is your contractual partner for the order in every respect. This means that you as a customer can always be sure who produces your components and can rely on consistent quality.

For large companies, however, this diversity tends to lead to obstacles when new suppliers first have to be created before an order can be placed. For this case, the PROTIQ Marketplace offers the PROTIQ Purchase function. PROTIQ GmbH acts as a purchasing service provider for you here. The components are produced by the selected marketplace provider, but the invoice comes from PROTIQ GmbH. In this way, only PROTIQ needs to be created as a supplier. You can find out more about PROTIQ Purchase here.
