Glass is a fascinating manufacturing material with a variety of unique properties. It is characterised by its transparency, hardness and resistance to chemical influences and thus offers a wide range of possible applications.
From glass blowing to glass processing with laser technology to additive manufacturing, there are a variety of processes that exploit the potential of glass as a manufacturing material. These processes enable the production of glass products with different shapes, surface textures and functionalities that are used in industries such as automotive, electronics, architecture and many others. This page will focus on glass as a material for additive manufacturing.
3D printing with glass: Structuring of glass is challenging and usually requires high temperatures to shape a glass melt or aggressive chemicals for etching of microstructures. As a liquid Glassomer L50-SL can be structured by room temperature replication or stereolithography 3D printing.
The sintered Glassomer parts are chemically and physically indistinguishable from commercial fused silica glass. They show the same high optical transparancy in the UV, visible and infrared region combined with the high thermal and chemical stabililty as well as the same mechanical strength and hardness of commercial fused silica glass.
Uses: Examples of applications for Glassomer L50-SL include the manufacture of highly integrated microfluidic chemical reactors and compact optics. It is also used in the medical technology, automotive and jewelry industries.

3D data check
The data check on the PROTIQ Marketplace is always done automatically. This procedure guarantees a consistently high quality. After uploading your file to our server, the PROTIQ software checks the file for manufacturability. Small errors are repaired automatically. In the case of large errors, you will be informed before printing and asked for approval by means of a preview.
TIP: Upload your file and have it automatically repaired by the software. You will then be able to download the repaired file under the item “File Info.” In addition, the file is saved in your account.
