Smart jewellery bracelets by LÆMON
Fashion Week was back in Berlin in January - and those who paid attention were able to spot some very special bracelets on the wrists of some celebrities: We are talking about the latest wristband models from LÆMON, a tech and design brand from the Berlin start-up "Not Just A Jewel".
When the young company approached PROTIQ at the end of last year to produce prototypes for their new design in the shortest possible time, we were of course immediately hooked. Because the wristbands are much more than just nice to look at, they are wearables for nonviolent self-defence.
Who or what is LÆMON?
LÆMON is for anyone who wants to feel free and safe. It combines design and technology in the first IoT-enabled jewellery bracelet with integrated loud and silent alarms for personal safety on the market. Via the accompanying protection app, users can leave family, friends or a 24/7 service emergency centre as an emergency contact. In the event of an alarm being triggered, an SMS with the GPS data is sent directly from the wristband to the pre-selected contacts. By applying micro-technology to fashionable accessories and the intuitive, patented two-way trigger mechanism, LÆMON enables more safety in everyday life - without stigmatisation.
The prototypes, which could now be admired in Berlin in January, were additively manufactured from TPU, copper and PA12. In contrast to its predecessor, these bracelets were much more delicate and blended in even better with everyday outfits. Due to the still small number of pieces and the early stage of development of this model, 3D printing lent itself as a fast and relatively inexpensive manufacturing process for small quantities. We are very excited to see where LÆMON's journey goes and are very happy to be a part of it.
