Glass-fiber-reinforced PA6 GF black

Functional Components from Brose

Brose Fahrzeugteile SE & Co. KG is an experienced industrial supplier represented on the PROTIQ Marketplace, offering additive manufacturing of components made from PA6 GF black using laser sintering. This material is particularly suitable for applications requiring stiffness, dimensional accuracy, and temperature resistance – complemented by optional post-processing and quality assurance measures.

Brose as a Manufacturing Service Provider on the PROTIQ Marketplace

Brose brings industrial expertise from volume production to the PROTIQ Marketplace. Additive manufacturing is not seen as a standalone process but as an integrated process chain: from data preparation and design for manufacturability to production and finishing – with the goal of delivering components ready for installation if required.

On the PROTIQ Marketplace, Brose currently offers PA6 GF black via laser sintering and is currently the only provider of this material on the platform.

PA6 GF Black – Material for Robust Functional Components

PA6 GF stands for glass-fiber-reinforced Polyamide 6. In practice, PA6 becomes significantly stiffer and more dimensionally stable through glass fiber reinforcement – especially relevant when components should yield less under load or when dimensional accuracy is more important than maximum elongation.

Typical Properties and Key Figures

Density & Appearance
Density: approx. 1.4 g/cm³
Color: black

Thermal Performance
Melting point: approx. 225 °C
Heat deflection temperature (HDT): approx. 200 °C (1.8 MPa) / 219 °C (0.45 MPa)

Mechanical Properties
Tensile strength: approx. 73–88 MPa
Tensile modulus (stiffness): approx. 6500–6900 MPa
Elongation at break: approx. 1.6–1.9 %
Flexural strength: approx. 110–130 MPa

What Does This Mean in Practice?

Advantage: Stiffness. The high tensile modulus (elasticity modulus) is ideal for load-bearing structures, brackets, housings, functional fixtures, or components that should deform as little as possible under load.

Surface and Finishing Options

For PA6 GF black from Brose, three finishing options regarding surface treatment are available during the ordering process.  By default, components are blasted. This creates a visually uniform, matte surface and removes typical powder residues.

If a smoother surface is desired, components can be ordered with vibratory finishing. This improves haptics and appearance – depending on geometry and the areas the process can reach.

The third option is chemical smoothing. In this process, components are chemically vapor-smoothed, resulting in a very smooth surface. This reduces porosity, which is beneficial for parts that need to transport or seal liquids or gases.

Quality Assurance Options: From Surface Roughness to 3D Scanning

If additional verification is required beyond manufacturing, quality assurance measures can be added. Available options include surface roughness measurement, a 3D surface scan for geometric capture, and a nominal-actual comparison using the best-fit method to clearly document deviations from the target geometry.

With PA6 GF black via laser sintering, Brose enhances the PROTIQ Marketplace with a material that excels in stiffness, dimensional stability, and temperature resistance. Combined with selectable finishing and optional quality assurance, it is a strong choice for industrial functional components.
