Thermoplastic

Thermoplastics are a class of plastics that are characterized by their ability to be reshaped. These materials become soft and flowable when heated so that they can be molded and processed. On cooling, they solidify again and retain their new shape. This reversible process makes thermoplastics ideal for a wide range of applications in 3D printing and in numerous industrial manufacturing processes.

A typical example of a thermoplastic is PA12 (polyamide 12), which is widely used in additive manufacturing. PA12 is known for its excellent mechanical strength, chemical resistance and low water absorption, which makes it particularly suitable for technical parts and functional prototypes. These properties, combined with the processing capacity of thermoplastics, allow flexible production of components with precise specifications.

Thermoplastics not only enable the creation of complex geometries, but also the reuse and recycling of the material, as they can be reused by reheating and reshaping. In 3D printing, excess or defective material could be reprocessed, offering both economic and environmental benefits.

Thermoplastics are used in many sectors, including automotive, consumer goods and medical devices, where flexible and re-formable material solutions are required. The versatility and adaptability of thermoplastics make these materials a key component in modern production technologies.
