Nozzle

The nozzle is an essential component of an FDM 3D printer (fused deposition modeling). It is the extrusion opening of the print head through which the print material - typically a thermoplastic filament - is melted and precisely applied to the build platform.

During the printing process, the filament is melted by a heated extruder and pressed through the small opening of the nozzle. The nozzle moves according to the printing instructions and deposits the material layer by layer, gradually building up the 3D object.

The size and shape of the nozzle influences the printing speed and the level of detail of the printed objects. Typically, nozzle diameters vary, with smaller diameters allowing for finer detail but slower print speeds.
